An 04 S2k with almost 200k miles that looks to be in perfect shape
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Or an 02 with 40k less miles but bodywork issues...
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Need to sell my 20 year old pickup and some other stuff and scoop one of these up as a DD for the wife and I to commute in. (24 miles of backroad-country highways twice a day)

I think it would be an easy sell on the wife, she has been talking about wanting a miata lately, thanks to Richard Hammond.

I wanted an S2000 purely from a looks standpoint. But the torque just isn’t really there. The best car would be an S2K with a Mazdaspeed Miata engine.

Yeah I don’t need a project I already own a 12 year old Land Rover

The S2k has an amazing note almost all of the time.

I was turned off to that based on its location Clarksville has an army base right next to it. And I know how military folks drive their cars.

Yeah, the same skepticism applies equally to how the front bumper ended up needing replacement

Meh. Neither of these seems like a great deal to me.
White one: Mileage is high for a sports car (yes, even a Honda). I know it’s not an AP2, but there’s a very clean ‘01 S2000 for sale in my autox regional group for $14k with 59k miles. Over triple that for only $4k doesn’t scream “deal of the century” to me. I’ve seen plenty of S2000s (AP1 and AP2) with under 100k miles in the $12-15k range.
Red one: That thing has been abused, guaranteed. It’s got cheap mods on it (Meagan Racing exhaust) and the bumper was painted a different shade of red. That tells me the repair clearly wasn’t done by a competent professional, which leads me to believe that it may not have been done as an insurance claim and the owner could be lying about how the bumper actually got damaged. To be fair, it’s priced really cheap, but I’d take the owner’s claim of “The car runs good” with a grain of salt.
TL;DR I’m not really wow’ed by either of these deals. They seem fairly average, and I think there are plenty of better deals to be had on an S2K if you search hard/long enough.

I’m not a readily available buyer yet. The soonest I will be is next year, sadly, because I would love to DD one of these for my decently long backroady commute

I almost bought one instead of the FR-S, but I would have had to get a hardtop at the exact same time and didn’t have the extra $2-3k for one. I still intend to own an S2000 at some point in my life.
